This cushion is made sustainably from surplus denim, and is an exclusive remake of the cushion Elton had made from the embroidered denim jacket featured on the 1971 Madman Across The Water cover.
The jacket belonged to art director and sleeve designer David Larkham, onto which his then-wife Janis (“Yanis”), embroidered his lettering. The song titles were embroidered by then-manager Steve Brown’s wife, Gill. The jackets were then photographed for the front and back cover and given to Elton, who eventually had them made into a cushion, which producer Gus Dudgeon bought at Elton’s Sotheby’s auction in September 1988
